On Saturday, Rhodes met their final non-conference opponent, Southwestern University, in
Georgetown, Texas. A first for the year saw Rhodes playing on a grass field. Rhodes struggled
with the playing surface in the opening minutes and quickly slipped into a several-goal deficit.
Southwestern continued to capitalize in the second half with a 5-goal outbreak in the 3rd
period to go ahead 10-9. The 4th quarter saw the Rhodes Lynx rally for 4 tallies of their own to
equalize and then go ahead by 2 with a little over 4 minutes left. Southwestern scored with
2:57 to go to cut the lead to 1, but it was not enough as Rhodes commanded possession and
ran out the clock to win 13-12.
