BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (February 25, 2023) -- Rhodes (1-2) split the weekend after falling to Colorado College 12-8, led by a strong first half performance from the Tigers.
The Tigers (2-0) jumped on the board first before
Carina Wesker found the back of the net to make it 1-1. Colorado College closed out the final five minutes of the first quarter on a 3-0 run, extending the lead 4-1. After falling to 6-1 in the second quarter, Rhodes started clawing back into the game with three straight goals from
Emily Bruner, Avery Burke, and
Chloe Parker. After the scoring run by the Lynx, the Tigers closed out the first half on a 3-1 run with two goals from Kendall Havill to extend the lead 9-5.
The Lynx came out hot in the second half with a pair of goals from
Molly Heidrick and Burke. Havill scored twice to lead the Tigers on another 3-0 run to finish out the third quarter leading 12-7. Despite a strong defensive showing in the second half by the Lynx to hold the Tigers scoreless in the fourth quarter, the comeback fell short as Burke added the lone goal for Rhodes in the final stretch.
Senior
Emma Bradley led the defensive unit with a recorded 15 saves along with three caused turnovers and four ground balls.

Next up for Rhodes is a home contest on Saturday, March 3. The Lynx will open SAA play against Birmingham-Southern College at Mason Field, with opening draw scheduled for 12:00pm.
