Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Lynx Fall To Chargers In Hard Fought Battle

Fresh off a conference title win and an appearance in the NCAA Regionals, the Rhodes Lynx kicked off their Women's Lacrosse season at Mason Field against the University of Alabama Huntsville Chargers. Despite a close effort from the Lynx, the Chargers came away with a 11-10 win.

The Lynx came out firing right away taking 15 shots in the first half to the Chargers' 11. Alabama Huntsville connected on 3 of their 5 shot attempts in the first quarter to go up 3-1. The next fifteen minutes is where the Lynx brought themselves back in the game outscoring the Chargers 4-2 to tie the game at 5 at halftime.

The Chargers responded in the third with a 4-2 scoring output to go up 9-7 on the Lynx before the final quarter. Avery Burke got her second goal of the game and season to tie it at 10 off an assist from Emily Bruner with 2:43 left to play in the game. Unfortunately, the Chargers had one more in them to get the lead nearly a minute later.

Bruner led the team with 5 points thanks to 4 assists and a goal. Carina Walker led in goals overall with 4. Burke and Caroline Kardian both had 2 goals, while Bruner and Chloe Parker rounded out the scoring effort with one a piece. Molly Heirdrick had the team's only other assist outside of Bruner's 4. With Alabama Huntsville scoring 11 points off of 25 shots, the Lynx were just short following a 10 point in 23 shot effort of their own.

The Lynx look ahead to Friday, February 24, to a trip to Bloomington, Illinois, where they will face off against Illinois Wesleyan University.
