The Rhodes College men's basketball ended up splitting their weekend in Las Vegas with a loss to the University of La Verne.
In this game the Lynx really struggled to get themselves going offensively. Their leading scorer
Phil Dotson had three fouls in the first half which prevented him from playing a lot in this half and he wasn't the only one struggling with foul trouble. Rhodes kept sending La Verne to the line and they sunk 11 out of their 13 free throw attempts. It didn't help that the Lynx missed 10 of their 15 free throws in the first half. These untimely fouls slowed down the Lynx, who love to play fast, and the Lynx's missed free throws ended up being fast break points for the La Verne Leopards. The Lynx went into the half down 32-42.
The second half wasn't any better as Rhodes was only able to score 29 points in the whole half. It was hard for Rhodes to make a run as their struggles with untimely fouls continued and the scrappy La Verne team killed them on second chance points. It was a very frustrating game for Rhodes as nothing was going their way. The Lynx ended up losing the game 61-85. Only two players were in double digits in scoring.
Phil Dotson with 27 points and
Zavien Williams with his second consecutive double-double 10 points and 11 rebounds.
