Lynx Crush La Verne in the 2023 D3 Hoops Classic

Thursday morning in Las Vegas the Rhodes women's basketball team dominated the University of La Verne 71-51. 
The first quarter displayed a lights-out shooting performance from the Lynx as they shot 57% from field and 100% from three-point range. Audrey Griffin got the Lynx on the scoring column as she drained a couple of three pointers at the start of the game. Catherine Althoff got herself some buckets as well with some points in the paint and a three of her own. The two Lynx scored the same amount points themselves that La Verne did as a team in the first quarter.
In the second quarter it was now time for the Leopards to have an amazing shooting quarter of their own as the Lynx cooled down. The Leopards only missed three shots in the second and were able to win the quarter 18-16. As the buzzer sounded the halftime score was 38-31 with the Lynx leading by 7.
From the time the third quarter started and until the end of the game it was nothing but domination by the Lynx. Throughput this time period the Lynx only allowed 20 points on 5 field goals as they scored 33 to win the game by 20. Rhodes finished the game outrebounded La Verne by 11, collected 20 assists, and forced 12 turnovers. Three players for the Lynx were double digits for scoring Catherine Althoff with 13, Avery Marsh with 12, and Alyssa Bongiovanni led the team in scoring with 14.
Rhodes improves to 5-4 and looks to go undefeated in Las Vegas. Go Lynx!
