Saturday morning in Las Vegas the Rhodes College women's basketball team played Occidental College. The Lynx were coming off a dominating 20-point blowout win in their previous contest but found themselves on the other end of this game.
Throughout the first two quarters it was a back-and-forth contest between the two teams as
Avery Marsh and
Catherine Althoff led the Lynx in scoring in the first half. The Occidental College Tigers won each of the first two quarters by two and as the buzzer sounded for halftime the score read 38-34.Â
The third quarter was when the Tigers pulled away from the Lynx as they outscored them 28-15. The Lynx turned the ball over 21 times throughout the game which led to the Tigers getting easy points on the other end. Because of their high volume of turnovers, the Lynx were taken out of their flow offensively. Even when they were creating high percentage opportunities for themselves to score.Â
Rhodes lost the ball game 65-86 and their record is now 5-5. Notable stat lines for the Lynx included
Avery Marsh with 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists;
Catherine Althoff with 14 points and 6 rebounds;
A'niya Lagarde with 10 points and 6 rebounds.
