Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Evan Kane '26

Women's Basketball Goes 1-1 in Florida

During the week, Rhodes Women's Basketball traveled to St. Pete Beach to participate in the
St. Pete Classic Tournament. The Lynx played 2 games in the tournament and came out with a
1-1 record for the tournament.
The Lynx opened with a strong performance against Drew University on Tuesday. They started
hot, jumping out to an 11 point lead at the end of the 1st quarter and holding Drew to just 3
points in the quarter. The Lynx continued their hot shooting ending the 1st half with a 29-16
lead. The Lynx stayed hot for the rest of the game, never losing the lead, and closing out Drew
with a 19 point 4th quarter. This strong shooting performance saw the Lynx notch their 4th win
of the season with a convincing 69-56 victory. The Lynx were led by a strong 14 points from
Kearstyn Seay and 11 points from Avery Marsh. Marsh also led the team in assists with 6 and
Giana Vlahakos led the team in rebounds with 10.

The Lynx were back in action on Wednesday with a matchup against Wesleyan University. While
the Lynx kept it close throughout, they eventually fell to Wesleyan 74-64 bringing them to .500 on
the season.
The Lynx strong shooting against Drew carried over into this game, as they scored 19 in the first
quarter and 10 in the second. However, the Lynx struggled on the defensive side of the ball as
they gave up 43 first half points to Wesleyan, which saw the Lynx go into the break down 14. The
Lynx shot the ball well in the second half, outscoring Wesleyan in both the 3rd and the 4th
quarter. The effort was too little to late for the Lynx unfortunately, as they ended up losing by 10,
giving the Lynx their 4th loss of the season.
The Lynx were led in scoring by Catherine Althoff's 18 and 12 from Avery Marsh. Marsh also led
the team in rebounds with 10, giving her her second double-double of the season. AC Milam
gave the Lynx a spark off the bench, scoring a personal season-high 10 points.
The Lynx are back in action next week in Las Vegas, with games against University of La
Verne and Occidental College.
