Rhodes Women's Soccer Advances in SAA Conference Tournament

The Rhodes College women's soccer team hosted the first round of the SAA playoffs at home in Memphis against the Birmingham Southern Panthers on Saturday. The Lynx, entering playoffs ranked as the #3 seed with an overall record of 10-4-1, showed up to dominate the Panthers.

The Lynx's impressive defense only allowed two shots on the goal the entire match, which led to the shutout and plenty of opportunity for the Lynx offense. Sophia Rall scored two goals unassisted for Rhodes back-to-back. Afterward, Grace Culver scored for the Lynx, assisted by Megan Propp. Propp had another assist for a Mallory Goldstein goal and a goal scored for herself, improving the Lynx to a 5-0 lead. Rhodes did not stop the pressure and scored two more, with another goal by Grace Culver and Isabelle Farnsworth assisted by Erin Strickland.

The Lynx's final score against the Panthers was 7-0, improving their overall record to 11-4-1. Rhodes will travel to Sewanee, Tennessee, this Friday for the Women's Soccer SAA Championship Tournament. They will play at 7 p.m. against Centre College in the semi-final match. If Rhodes wins the game, they will play the winner of Hendrix College vs Sewanee in the finals on Sunday, November 5th, at 1 p.m. The Lynx, finding the back of the net quickly this past weekend, look to keep their momentum going and take home the SAA title after the upcoming weekend in Sewanee.
