The Rhodes Lynx Women's Soccer had a thrilling weekend, competing in the semifinals and finals of the SAA tournament in Sewanee, Tennessee. After defeating Birmingham Southern 7-0 last weekend, the three-seeded Lynx advanced to the semifinals against two-seed Centre.
The semifinal was a thriller, heading to Penalty Kicks after intensive efforts on defense by both teams. In penalty kicks, the Lynx defeated the Colonels 4-2. With this win, the Lynx advanced to the championship against the first-seeded Tigers of Sewanee.
In the championship game, despite an impressive five saves from
Maggie Wakefield and an impressive early goal from
Mary Gale Godwin, the Lynx fell to the Tigers 1-2. Even though this loss was a tough one for the Lynx, they finished at an impressive 11-5-2 on the season and as conference runner-ups.
