The Rhodes College volleyball defeated Mississippi University for Women 3-0 Tuesday night on the road for another win.
The Lynx started strong, getting the first point in set one, thanks to Yzzie Dsamou with a kill from
Mackenzie Geer. The Lynx led the entire set, ending with two service aces from
Sophie Snodgrass, winning the first set 25-16.
The second set started better than the first set when they linked and scored the first 5 points, giving them the 5—0 lead. After a few tricky moments, the Lynx and Owls were all tied up 8-8, only for the Lynx to regain the lead again after two kills by
Rachel Clarke and one from
Kym Young, bringing the score to 11-8. After holding the Owls to as few points as possible, the Lynx were up 23-15. The second set ended 25-19 thanks to
Meg Gebhart and Sophia Snodgrass for the last two kills to complete the collection.
The Lynx were down 7-4 at the beginning of the third set until they scored four consecutive points thanks to two kills by
Meg Gebhart, a kill from Magie Lukemire, and an attack error by MUW. The Lynx tied 8-8 before they took over the lead till they tied again 17-17. The Lynx were down 23-21 towards the end of the match. Down by two, the Lynx scored from a kill Dsamou from
Mackenzie Geer, and another kill by
Maggie Lukemire tied the game 23-23. An attack error by MUW put the Lynx ahead 24-23. With a kill from Dsamou, the Lynx won the third set 25-23, winning the match 3-0.
The Lynx are back in action on October 21st at Berry College. Â
