Los Lynx fell to the Berry College Vikings on Sunday afternoon in Mallory Gymnasium. The loss ends the Lynx 4-game SAA win streak and puts them at 5-2 in conference play.
The game was close from the opening tip to the final buzzer. The game had 11 ties and 7 lead changes. Both teams led for almost the same amount of time (16:38 for Berry and 14:32 for Rhodes).
Alexys Mathangani continued her tremendous play this season for the Lynx and finished with 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Camille Chase had her best offensive performance of the season and finished with 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Giana Vlahakos, 2nd in the SAA for blocks and 6th in blocks, provided valuable minutes off the bench for the Lynx and finished with 5 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Despite the play of Vlahakos, the Lynx were unable to win the bench battle, which ultimately played a big factor in the loss.
The Vikings forced 23 Lynx turnovers, which led to 24 points. Sylvia Kahoro led the way for the Vikings and finished with 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. The game was tied after the 3rd quarter, but the Vikings pulled away in the 4th by shooting 50% from the field. At the final buzzer, the Vikings won 58-50.
Los Lynx look to bounce back Friday on the road against Oglethorpe.
