Los Lynx Win 4th Straight SAA Game!

Los Lynx picked up their 4th straight SAA win over Oglethorpe University Friday night in the annual Coaches vs Cancer: Suits & Sneakers! The win puts the Lynx over .500 on the season and is their 4th win in 5 games.

Alexys Mathangani was unstoppable for the Lynx in the win. She dominated the game from the opening tip to the final buzzer. In the 1st half, Mathangani finished with 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists while shooting 9-12 from the field. Taylor Dupree continued her hot streak and addded 8 points of her own in the half. Dupree, the leading shot blocker in the SAA, also added 3 blocks in the half. Kearstyn Seay helped distribute the ball to the hot hand and finished with 4 assists and 5 rebounds in the half. The Lynx defense and paint play also had a big impact in the half. The Lynx outscored the Stormy Petrels 22-10 in the paint and won the rebounding battle 22-16. Giana Vlahakos led all players with 6 rebounds at half. The Lynx held the Stormy Petrels to 29% shooting in the half (30.8% in the 1st/27.8% in the 2nd). At half, the Lynx led 33-21.

The 2nd half was slightly more competitive than the 1st half, with the Stormy Petrels shooting 40% in the 3rd quarter. However, the Lynx defense regained control of the game in the 4th and held them to 21.4% shooting. Mathangani continued to lead the way offensively for the Lynx and finished the game with a double-double (32 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists). Seay and Vlahakos both flirted with double-doubles themselves. Seay finished with 6 points and 12 rebounds while Vlahakos had 5 points and 12 rebounds. Camille Chase got in on the scoring action and finished the game with 7 points. The Lynx won the paint and rebounding battles 38-22 and 48-27. At the final buzzer, the Lynx won 62-48.

Los Lyx will be back in action Sunday at 1pm!
