Colonels Claim Victory Over Lynx

Centre defeated Rhodes on Friday evening

DANVILLE, Ky. (April 8, 2022) - The Rhodes Lynx suffered their first SAA conference loss of the season, falling at the hands of the Centre Colonels 11-4 on Friday evening. Rhodes moves to 2-10 on the season with the loss, and 2-1 in SAA play.

The first quarter was a low-scoring affair as each team felt each other out on both sides of the field. Centre managed to break through twice, with goals from Rider Knowlton and Max Speers to take an early lead.

Christian Cisneros cut the lead in half just thirty seconds into the second quarter with his fourth goal of the year on a feed from Drew Litner. Unfortunately, it was the only goal for Rhodes in the quarter, while Centre was able to find the net four times to take a 6-1 lead into the half.

Ryan Dancy came out hot in the third quarter, scoring his 15th goal of the year in the first minute. Liam Sullivan also scored for the Lynx in the third in a man-up situation, but Centre sandwiched a pair of goals between the two Lynx strikes to maintain their cushion. The score was 8-3 after three.

Dancy added one more in the fourth, but Centre added three, making the final score of 11-4.

Centre won the battle for most statistical categories in this one:
Shots 38-31
Saves 15-11
Turnovers 16-21
Ground Balls 33-25

Rhodes will wrap up their mini road trip on Sunday when they play at Sewanee. Faceoff is scheduled for noon eastern.
