BRASELTON, Ga. (April 25, 2022) - The men's golf season has come to a close following a fifth-place finish at the 2022 SAA Championship, held at Chateau Elan in Georgia.
The Lynx sat in a tie for fourth after round one with a combined score of 309, matching the effort of Berry.
Will Feagin sat in 13th place with a 76 (+4), followed by
Billy Gussler at 77 (+5), and a trio of Lynx ...
Foster Wood,
Avery Stansell, and
Jack Stein ... who all shot a 78 (+6). Nationally ranked Oglethorpe held a commanding lead after day one, sith a team total of 294.
Day two saw Wood make a leap, finishing the day with a 74 (+2). Unfortunately, none of his teammates were able to match him as tough weather conditions forced scores of 78 from
Jud Turner, and 79s from Stansell and Stein to put Rhodes at 310 for the day, dropping them to fifth place. Oglthorpe maintained their lead, shooting a 296. They sat 16 strokes better than Berry, who vaulted themselves up to second place following a 12-shot improvement in their round.
The third and final day was once again led by
Foster Wood, who carded his second-straight 74 to finish the tournament in 8th with a 226. Stansell and Feagin shot 77, and Stein turned in an 82 to give the Lynx a 310 and an overall final of 929. Oglethorpe won the tournament with an 883, followed by Berry (904), Birmingham Southern (911), Sewanee (921), Rhodes, Centre (949), Millsaps (960, and Hendrix (996). Berry's Blake Farbman was the individual champion with a 221 (+5).
Wood was named 2nd-Team All-SAA following the event.
