Lynx Celebrate Senior Day with Win

Rhodes defeated Hendrix in the regular season finale on Saturday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (April 16, 2022) - Rhodes ended their regular season on a high note with a 17-8 win over the visiting Hendrix Warriors on Saturday afternoon at Crain Field. The win moves Rhodes to 3-12, but also puts them at 3-3 in SSC play. They will be the #4 seed in next week's conference tournament.

In front of an energized crowd on hand to celebrate the 12 senior players on the roster, the Lynx fed off the vibes and dominated the game from the jump. Ryan Dancy put Rhodes on the board about 90 seconds into the game off a feed from Jonathon Hazelhurst. A minute later, Christian Cisneros found space and was fed by Conor Casey to make it 2-0. Hendrix got one goal back, but the Lynx were quick to respond when seniors Cole Hollander and Dan Brown each found the net. James Mayfield scored the fifth goal of the quarter for Rhodes late in the period, giving them a 5-3 lead at the end of one

The game was blown open in the second quarter as Rhodes kept their foot on the gas, but also played phenomenal defense. Brown scored a second goal to lead things off. Drew Litner would add a pair of his own, and was joined on the scoreboard by Drew Downes and Casey. The Lynx won the second quarter 5-0, and led 10-3 at halftime.

Both teams scored a pair in the third quarter, keeping the Lynx cushion in tact. Rhodes did a good job in the second half getting valuable playing time for almost everyone on the roster. The Lynx played inspired ball, looking strong on both ends of the field.

Rhodes added five more goals in the fourth quarter, with the highlight coming from a laser off the stick of senior Andrew Smith, giving him his first goal of the season. By the end of it all, Rhodes had taken down Hendrix 17-8.

Thirteen different Lynx scored in the game, with Brown, Dancy, Casey, and Litner scoring twice each. Will Perryman was an animal on faceoffs, taking 18-23 chances and scooping a dozen groundballs. Brendan Roberts recorded 14 saves in goal.
