BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (April 12, 2022) - In their final tune-up before the SAA conference tournament, Rhodes made history with a record low round at the Southern Panthers Classic, hosted by Birmingham-Southern at Bentbrook Golf Club.

The Lynx placed second in the Classic after posting two-round totals of 301-289 for a 590. Methodist University, who boasts the #3 team in the country, were the champions with a 292-295=587, winning by three strokes. Coming in third were the #2 nationally-ranked team, Emory (592), followed by #1 Carnegie Mellon (594).
"We had three birdies on 18 to clinch 2nd place," said head coach
Mike Clary. "The round was appropriately concluded with
Bree Wilson hitting her approach shot two feet from the pin, where she made the birdie putt." Wilson finished with the third-best individual score at 73-72=145.
Wilson,
AJ Chicharro and
Grace Young all carded even par 72's in the final round.
Megan Morris shot 73,
Lia Johnson shot 76, and
Alexa Tiano closed with an 84.
"Our players have put in great time with our assistant coach,
Sarah Posey," said Coach Clary. "Sarah was key today as our primary on the course coach, helping us finish at 289."
The previous school low was a 290, set three years ago at the Rhodes Invitational.
