Lynx Fall to Third Ranked Opponent

#18 Denison defeated Rhodes 13-10 on Saturday afternoon

GRANVILLE, Ohio. (February 26, 2022) - Rhodes continued to slog its way through one of the toughest schedules in the country, seeing their third nationally-ranked opponent in in four games to start the season. They controlled most of the game, but eventually fell to the #18 Denison Big Red 13-10 on Saturday afternoon. The Lynx now sit at 0-4 on the young season, while Denison improves to 2-0.

Rhodes came out aggressively in the first quarter, posting a relentless attack against the Big Red. It only took 75 seconds for senior Ryan Dancy to find the net, giving Rhodes an early lead. After Denison equalized, the Lynx ripped off three straight unanswered goals, with two more coming from Dancy and another from Conor Casey. Denison added one more near the end of the quarter in a man-up situation to make it 4-2 through one.

The second quarter had plenty of action as well. Following another man-up goal from Denison, Liam Sullivan got the goal back with a laser. After a long stretch of nothing that lasted more than five game minutes, Matt Leone added another for the Lynx to make it a 6-3 game. The Big Red crept within one following a pair of goals, but a Drew Downes strike with just over a minute left gave Rhodes the 7-5 lead heading into halftime.

Denison dominated the third period, outscoring the Lynx 5-1. Leone added another goal to his ledger 70 seconds in, but four unanswered from the Big Red made it 10-8 going into the fourth. Dancy and Casey managed to find the net, but an additional three goals for Denison proved to be too much, with the Big Red taking the match 13-10.

Dancy finished with four goals to lead the Lynx attack. Leone and Casey added a pair of goals each. Brendan Roberts stopped a season-high 21 shots in the match, but took the loss, falling to 0-4 on the season.

Rhodes will make the trip from Granville to Lexington, Kentucky to face Transylvania University on Sunday afternoon. Faceoff is scheduled for 12:00 pm eastern.
