Pioneers Push Past Lynx

Transylvania defeated Rhodes 20-8 on Sunday afternoon

LEXINGTON, Ken. (February 27, 2022) - Rhodes ended the final stop of their road trip with a 20-8 loss at the hands of the Transylvania Pioneers on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops Rhodes to 0-5 on the year while Transy improves to 3-0.

This one belonged to the home team from the jump, as the Pioneers started the game with a 7-0 first quarter. Transy outshot the Lynx 16-3 in the first, and converted on nearly half of their attempts. Rhodes actually won more faceoffs in the quarter, but just couldn't convert on offense.

Drew Litner and Zach Jennings put the Lynx on the board in the second with two quick goals at the beginning of the period. Unfortunately Dalton Hubbs found the net three times for Transy following the Lynx goals, making it a 10-2 game. Each team would add one more to go into half 11-3.

Both teams added three goals to their respective total in the third. Ryan Dancy, Reed Dousevicz and Jack Wentz were the goal scorers for Rhodes, while Hubbs added two more to his total for the Pioneers.

Preston Meehl scored first for Rhodes in the fourth to make it 14-7, but Transylvania responded with six unanswered goals to go up big. Conor Casey added one to the Rhodes ledger a few seconds before the horn to make the final of 20-8.

Eight different Lynx scored the eight goals on the day. They were outshot by the Pioneers 54-28. Brendan Roberts saved 14 shots in goal for Rhodes.

Next up for the Lynx is a home date with Southwestern on March 7th. Faceoff is scheduled for 2:00 pm at Crain Field.
