CLEVELAND, Miss. (January 29, 2022) - The Rhodes Swimming and Diving team had their first event in almost two months this past weekend at Division-II Delta State. While the Statesmen took the matchup by a score of 912-755, this was more of a tuneup as Rhodes prepares for the SAA championships which begin on February 15.

Lauren Cordes finished second in the 1000 Yard Freestyle, posting a final time of 11:05.22. She was one of three Lynx to make the Top 5 in the event, including
Aidan Donahue and Alex Fox. Cordes also took second place in the 500 yard freestyle prelims and third in the finals.

Adeline Carroll was fantastic in the 200 Yard Freestyle. She led all swimmers in the prelims, carding a 1:56.06. She then bested that time in the finals, finishing in 1:53.48. Unfortunately, Delta State's Celeste Turner beat Carroll by half a second with a time of 1:52.97. Carroll had a similar result in the 200 Yard Breaststroke. She took the prelim heat with a time of 2:30.60, and then improved by more than six seconds in the finals (2:24.14). Again, she was bested in the final, this time by Delta State's Maddy Lavoie who finished with a 2:23.46.

Emily Ulmer took second place in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:08.85.

Emily Robinson showed well in the 200 Yard Butterfly. She finished fourth in the prelims with a time of 2:21.25, but then improved all the way to 2:10.40 in the finals to take second-place.

Eliza Hulverson had the best prelim time for the 100 Yard Freestyle at 54.65, but was beaten by a half second in the finals. Hulverson posted a time of 53.09, but it Turner again for Delta State who took the title with a time of 52.66.
Rhodes will take a couple of weeks to prep for the SAA championship, which will be hosted by Sewanee February 16-19. Fans will be able to watch the action
