Memphis - It was a warm and sunny day for Rhodes women's soccer as the Lynx took to the field in their final home game of the spring 2021 season. The Lynx honored outgoing seniors
Allie Edwards,
Maddy Peticolas,
Sara Scherer, and
Liz Vega prior to their annual rivalry matchup against Centre College.
Rhodes allowed the Colonels to take the least amount of shots of any conference opponent this season, and just the second fewest overall. Centre, who is 6-0 in the SAA and 6-1-1 on the year, was averaging 22 shots per game coming into the contest, earning only 11 against the Lynx.
After Centre tallied three corner kicks in the first 5:42 of the game, Rhodes allowed just one corner kick the rest of the game, which came in the 85th minute.
Centre scored their game-winner on a penalty kick in the 39th minute before adding the extra goal in the 52nd minute.
The two teams will meet up again in the Southern Athletic Association semifinals on Friday, April 16. Centre will host the tournament having won their sixth straight SAA regular season title.
