Memphis - After a year and a half without soccer, Rhodes College women's soccer scored within a blink of an eye it seemed in their first game of the season. The Lynx defeated Millsaps 2-0 as they begin their shortened 2020-21 season.

A cross from the right side by Alli Cundiff was settled by Liz Vega who side-stepped her opponent inside the box to make space. Vega then put the ball on cage through several Majors before a defender tried to stop the shot and deflected it into the goal just 29 seconds into the game.

The game remained 1-0 at halftime as Rhodes held just three shots and Millsaps two shots. The Lynx offense pressured Millsaps in the second half with 12 shots. Millsaps was charged with a foul inside the box, allowing Rhodes a penalty kick opportunity in the 72nd minute. Vega put the ball in the back of the net for the insurance goal.

The Lynx defense held Millsaps to just one shot in the second half.

Rhodes will host Birmingham-Southern next Saturday, March 20th at noon.
