Huntsville, Ala. - It's been a wild February for Rhodes College women's lacrosse who, despite having about 3-4 days of practice this month, opened the 2021 season with a 17-14 victory over NCAA Division II opponent University of Alabama at Huntsville.
With Memphis having travel and water issues late last week, the Lynx were forced to spin on a dime and travel for their season opener instead of hosting the Chargers.Â
Rhodes began the game with a 5-1 lead before UAH pulled within two goals (7-5). The Lynx went ahead 9-6 before scoring again with 28 seconds left in the first half.
Rhodes' offense came out of halftime ready to go, scoring three straight goals in the first five minutes of play. UAH returned the favor with three in a row before the two squads exchanged goals back and forth. The Lynx led 16-11 with 10:35 to play when UAH closed out the game on a 3-1 run which included the final goal with 53 seconds remaining.
Game statistics included accurate goals and assists will be provided as soon as they are made available.
