Jared Briant and
Ben Hazelwood ran the time of their lives at the 2021 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
Both Lynx made their first national cross country appearance after qualifying as two of the top seven individuals in the South Regional two weeks prior. Briant and Hazelwood were the top two finishers from the South Region.
Briant placed 41st in the race out of 294 entries in 24:23.3. His new personal record time is 1:10 faster than his race registered at the South Regional. Hazelwood ran 1:07 faster than his time at regionals, and finished the race in 58th place (24:34).
Both Briant and Hazelwood achieved their first ever sub-25 minute finish in an 8k race. They now own the third and fourth fastest times recorded in the history of Rhodes men's cross country.
