Memphis - The No. 18-ranked Rhodes College men's lacrosse team improves to 3-0 after defeating Transylvania University 18-7 in their home opener Saturday.
The Lynx opened the game by scoring four straight goals on their way to a 6-1 first quarter lead. The Lynx then ended the half with three goals, two of which came from
Ryan Dancy, both assisted by
Ryan Marasco. They continued with another goal five minutes into the second half to take a 12-5 lead. After a lone Transy third quarter goal, Rhodes finished the game how they started it, by going on a 6-1 run.
During the game junior goalkeeper
Brendan Roberts made 17 saves while
Mac Ference scooped up six ground balls and
Cale Dow five ground balls. Dow and Will Perry man led the Lynx with two caused turnovers.
Offensively, 10 Lynx found the back of the net, led by
Christian Cisneros with a goal and six assists for seven points.
Addison Mueller led the game with five goals while Dancy, Marasco,
Jonathon Hazlehurst and
Matt Perez each recorded two goals.
Rhodes is back at home continuing their three-game home stand by hosting Ohio Northern on Sunday, March 1.
