Men's Lacrosse Remains Undefeated After 13-7 Victory Over Ohio Northern

Memphis - Rhodes College men's lacrosse opened March with a 6-2 run over previously unbeaten Ohio Northern. The Lynx defeated the Polar Bears 13-7 to improve to 4-0 on the season while ONU is now 3-1. 

Matt Perez opened the game with his first of six goals on the day. Near 70 degrees and with wind gusts up to 18 mph, ONU took a 2-1 lead before Perez and company scored five straight goals to end the first quarter. Perez totaled five of his goals in about a 15-minute span. After scoring the first goal, the senior recorded three in a row to total four in the first quarter before he opened the second quarter with a goal on an assist from Christian Cisneros. Three of Cisneros' six assists would come on Perez goals. 

Rhodes edged the Polar Bears 3-2 in the second quarter to lead 9-4 at halftime. ONU took the third quarter 2-1 when Ryan Dancy scored on a man-up situation. Rhodes opened the fourth quarter with three straight goals to go up 13-6 before ONU notched the final goal with 3:10 left in the game. Cale Dow opened the quarter with a goal before Dancy scored with four seconds left on the shot clock. Perez closed out Lynx scoring with 7:38 remaining. 

Overall Rhodes outshot ONU 47-38, and held a 14-10 faceoff advantage. In goal, Brendan Roberts made 10 saves while ONU's Cole Zaferakis stopped 21 Lynx shots.

Cisneros totaled seven points on six assists and a goal while Perez totaled six goals. Five groundballs were scooped up by Addison Mueller and Tommy Paranzino while James Margraff recorded two caused turnovers. Dancy finished the game with two goals while Dow, Tyler Pellegrino, and Ryan Marasco tallied one each. Mueller added the final Lynx assist.

Rhodes concludes their three-game home stand on Tuesday when they host MSOE at 7 p.m.
