Atlanta, Ga. - The Rhode Lynx baseball team opened the Rawlings Southern Classic as they took on the Greensboro College Pride Friday afternoon. The Lynx were clicking on all cylinders as their starting pitcher, Jacob Dubs, had an impressive outing and their offense poured in 12 hits, which led to a 12-1 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Top of 2nd inning: Four Lynx walks and a single from Chris Penna and Ben Wilson, resulted in Rhodes taking an early three run lead (3-0).
Top of 4th Inning: The bases were juiced for Rhodes with Peter York coming to the plate. York singled to the pitcher to extend the Lynx lead (4-0). Wood Kimbrough hit a deep fly ball to the right fielder to bring home Mitchell O'Berry (singled on a bunt) (5-0).Â
Bottom of the 7th: A Pride single to center field plated their only run of the day (5-1).
Top of the 9th inning: The Lynx erupted for nine runs in the top half of the ninth. York got the scoring started with a single through the right side which brought home Willard Overstreet (6-1). Kimbrough followed up with a single to left field to plate Paul Giacomazzi (7-1). John McNair got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring home Will Huertin (8-1). A Penna double in the right field gap plated two more (10-1). Wilson grounded out to the second baseman, but another run scored in the process (11-1). Penna then scored on a balk to end the impressive inning for the Lynx (12-1).Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Dubs had an impressive start on the mound as he recorded six scoreless innings, five strikeouts, and only one hit allowed. He was able to carry a no-hitter into the sixth inning as the Pride singled with one out in the inning.
- Kimbrough (3), York (2), and Penna (2) all recorded a multi hit game. They all tallied two RBIs in the contest as well.
- McNair reached base safely four times by base on balls.Â
- Rhodes outhit Greensboro 12-2.
- Kimbrough has recorded multi RBIs in three consecutive contests. He has tallied at least one RBI in each game this season.

Rhodes will return to action Sat., Feb. 15th, as they face the Greenville University Panthers. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. ET.
