Fulton, Mo. - Traveling to the middle of Missouri, the Rhodes College women's soccer team defeated Westminster College 1-0 Saturday, picking up their third straight shutout to open the season.
Despite outshooting the Blue Jays 17-9, the teams totaled 11 shots in the first half with Rhodes edging Westminster 6-5. After a scoreless first half, the Lynx came out hot with sophomore
Alli Cundiff scoring the lone goal of the game in the 56th minute. Rhodes earned a corner kick and after senior
Carly Cone's header was blocked, Cundiff roped in the rebound for the fourth shot of the half.
The Lynx recorded 11 shots in the second half to Westminster's four en route to the victory.
Cundiff and senior
Taylor Ryan both had three shots on goal, followed by senior
Katelyn Curtis and junior
Sara Scherer with two each.
Westminster goalkeeper Sarah Cradick made 10 saves in the game while Lynx sophomore goalkeeper
Abby Roevens stopped all four shots to earn the shutout.
