Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lynx Shut Out Millsaps in SAA Opener

Memphis - A goal in the second minute was enough to solidify a conference-opening victory for Rhodes College women's soccer Saturday. The Lynx would score again less than a minute later before tallying their final goal in the 52nd minute to defeat Millsaps College 3-0.

Senior Katelyn Curtis sent the ball from midfield near the press box to the right side of the box where sophomore Alli Cundiff settled the ball. Cundiff worked the ball around her defender and sent the ball towards the net between two Majors where freshman Sarah DiLuzio tapped in the ball to the back of the far right corner for the game-winner.

Less than a minute later, DiLuzio corraled the ball on the left edge of the box and set up fellow freshman Anya Ranaraja who kicked it past the sliding Millsaps goalkeeper to earn her first collegiate goal. The Lynx led 2-0 just 2:39 into the game. The rest of the contest would remain scoreless until a corner opportunity came for the Lynx in the 51st minute. Senior Taylor Ryan sent the ball right in front of the goal. Just before the ball touched the ground fellow senior Carly Cone footed the ball to the right post before it bounced back to the left side of the goal for Cundiff to head in to put the Lynx up 3-0 as the 52nd minute began.

In all, Rhodes out shot Millsaps 35-2 and held a 13-0 corner kick advantage.

The win propels the Lynx to 7-2 on the season. Rhodes will leave Saturday and make the trek to Atlanta for their final non-conference game of the regular season against No. 25- Emory University. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.
