Memphis - On a scorcher of a day on Rhodes' home field, Austin College was able to outlast the Lynx who are now 2-3-1 on the year.
The first half was an even battle between two teams probing and testing one another. Austin College opted to move the ball around through their back line while Rhodes sat in to limit their running. The first half saw one or two chances for both sides but neither was able to create much as the opposing defense remained solid through the middle of the field.
Nathan Meglic got the start in goal for Rhodes and shut down Austin College with four saves in the half.
The second half was more open as each team pushed themselves in hopes to find a goal to break the deadlock. Rhodes had a couple opportunities on the break but were unable to find the net. In the 87
th minute Austin College collected the ball at the outside of the goalie's box and shot from about 20 yards out to hit their game-winner. They followed up with another goal in the final minute to take the 2-0 victory.
The Rhodes College Lynx look forward to their next matchup in the middle of the week on September 18
