Lynx Split Final Regular Season Doubleheader

Conway, Ark. - Rhodes College baseball suffered a 6-1 loss to Hendrix College to begin their final regular season day of competition on Saturday, April 20. Then after five scoreless innings, Rhodes plated two runs to win the seven-inning game.

Game One
Hendrix scored a run in the first and fourth innings on two RBI-singles before the Lynx secured their lone run of the game in the fifth inning. Rhodes led the bottom of the inning on three straight singles from Brady John, Paul Giacomazzi and Wood Kimbrough. John advanced to third on Giacomazzi's hit to right, allowing him to score on Kimbrough's single to left. A sacrifice fly in the sixth gave Hendrix a 3-1 advantage until the Warriors put the game away with three runs in the eighth on four hits and two errors. Hendrix totaled 13 hits in the game while the Lynx recorded nine hits. Nick Bosma suffered the loss, going seven innings with five strikeouts and three earned runs.

Game Two
Senior Jacob Telli earned the only hit through the first five innings for Rhodes before freshman Peter York pinch hit to lead off the sixth inning. The Atlanta, Ga. native tripled to right center before scoring the game-winner on Telli's second hit of the day on a single up the middle. Telli scored later in the inning on a Ryan Palermo sacrifice fly to center field. York then doubled in the seventh before Trey Sledge put away the Warriors in order. He struck out the side to finish the game, picking up his sixth strikeout of the game, allowing just two hits and two walks.

The Lynx are now 23-17 overall and finish the regular season with a 12-9 conference record and fourth in the SAA standings. Hendrix and Birmingham-Southern will host the first rounds of the 2019 SAA Tournament April 25-27.
