Conway, Ark. - Rhodes College baseball took a 2-1 lead over Hendrix before an error allowed two Warriors to cross home, ultimating handing Rhodes the loss.
A Warrior error crossed the first run of the game for the Lynx in the third before Hendrix tied the game on a walk in the bottom half of the inning. The Lynx led 2-1 after
Zach Liebenson was hit by a pitch to lead off the top of the fifth. He got into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt from
Ben Wilson before he scored on a
Jacob Telli single to right field. Rhodes' starting pitcher,
Jacob Dubs, sat the Warriors down in order in the bottom of the fifth before Hendrix scored the winning run in the sixth.Â
The Lynx stranded a runner in the top of the ninth as Hendrix secured at least a top-two finish in the regular season standings. The Warriors are now 27-11 overall and 14-11 in conference. Rhodes is now 22-16 on the season and tied with Berry for third with an 11-8 conference record.Â
Telli finished the game 3-for-3 with a walk and two stolen bases. Freshman
Peter York went 2-for-4, the only other Lynx to tally more than one hit in the game. Rhodes' pitching allowed zero Warriors to earn multiple hits.
Rhodes and Hendrix will finish the regular season in a 1 p.m. doubleheader in Conway, Ark. on Saturday, April 20. The Lynx need to win both games in order to host the first round of the 2019 SAA Baseball Tournament.Â
