Memphis - Forced indoors for both conference games over the weekend, the No. 39 ranked Rhodes College men's tennis defeated Berry 8-1 Saturday on senior day before downing Oglethorpe 7-1. The Lynx won out the regular season on a five match win streak to improve to 12-6 overall and 6-1 in conference. It's the largest conference win percentage and number of conference wins for the Lynx since joining the SAA. Prior to Berry's game, the Lynx recognized seniors
Sairam Gudiseva and
Sean Hogan.
Rhodes, who is ranked ninth in the Atlantic Region, played without
P.J. Shaw on the weekend, forcing the Lynx to mix up their lineup. Ritwick Chatterjee and
Phil Lauture, normally a No. 2 doubles team, went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles.
Rhodes swept doubles against Oglethorpe including an 8-7 (9-7) win at No. 2 doubles by
Andrew Morton and
Frank Stich. Oglethorpe's lone win came at No. 5 singles 7-6 (10-5), 6-1. Freshman
Alex Lloyd clinched the match for Rhodes at No. 4 singles 6-4, 3-6, 14-12.
The Lynx are off until next weekend when they travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn. for the 2019 SAA Tournament.
