Memphis - Playing on four courts at Memphis University School, Rhodes College women's tennis defeated Berry College 6-3 to improve to 11-4 on the season and 4-2 in conference. Prior to the match, Rhodes honored senior
Caroline Doherty and junior Mia Finn who will be graduating next December.
Rhodes swept doubles, taking the first two matches 8-6, 8-4, before
Dallas Bennett and
Caroline Yarbrough held off their opponents at No. 3 doubles 8-7 (11-9).
In singles play,
Michelle Adan-Pol split the first two matches with her opponent, eventually falling 10-7 at No. 1 singles. The Lynx took the decision after
Dasha Safarian (No. 2) and
Kate McGough (No. 4) won their singles matches. Doherty added another point for the Lynx, winning No. 3 singles 1-6, 6-4, 12-10 in a close matchup against Sara Myers. No. 5 and 6 singles had to play pro sets due to limited time as
Tricia Sculco came in close behind her No. 6 singles opponent 6-8 as did Bennett at No. 5 singles 7-8 (4-7).
Rhodes is scheduled to host Oglethorpe University Sunday back inside after the men's 9 a.m. match or if Rhodes' courts are dry, then back on campus at the Dunavant Tennis Complex around noon.
