Columbus, Ohio - Rhodes College women's lacrosse came back to defeat Capital University 18-10 after a five-goal deficit. Both teams are now 3-3 on the season.
Capital scored the first three goals of the game on their way to a 6-1 lead. Rhodes freshman
Baylee Barker took over, and scored three straight of the Lynx before Capital broke up the scoring streak. Barker then netted a final goal as the half was winding down. Capital led 7-5 at the break.
Barker then set up
Aidan Pike to score the first two goals of the second half to tie the game. Capital scored a goal to take their final lead of the game before the Lynx put five unanswered goals into the back of the net. Capital scored their final goal with 15:30 remaining before Rhodes tallied six more goals to end the game.
Lauren Lazure tallied 12 saves for the Lynx. Barker led the game with seven goals, three assists, eight draw controls and four ground balls. Pike finished with five goals, four ground balls and three caused turnovers while
Annika Hedlund tallied three goals on five shots.
Payton Bennett scored twice and
Madison Rubino scored on her only shot of the game.
Rhodes out-shot Capital 40-30 and tallied a 26-19 ground ball advantage despite Capital gaining three more draw controls than the Lynx.
Rhodes will return to Memphis to host FDU-Florham on Thursday, March 14 at 3:30 p.m.
