Granville, Ohio - After scoring the first goal of the game, Rhodes women's lacrosse suffered a 17-11 loss in frigid temperatures Thursday evening.
Despite the loss, Lynx junior goalkeeper
Lauren Lazure broke Rhodes' single game save record, recording 18 saves. In the season opener she tied the record, making 17 saves.
Madison Rubino drove to the cage in the fifth minute to net one of Rhodes six first-half goals. The Lynx trailed 8-6 with four minutes left in the first half until Denison scored two before the break. Two goals for Denison to start the second half broke open the game. Freshman
Baylee Barker scored with 12 minutes left to pull Rhodes within five. Denison closed the game on a 2-1 run as Rubino scored the final goal for the Lynx.
Barker finished the game with three goals, two of which came on free position shots.
Annika Hedlund and
Aidan Pike joined Rubino with two goals each.
Payton Bennett and
Aubrey Gray notched a goal each while
Izzy Parker tallied the only assist for the Lynx.
