Rome, Ga. - Host Berry College scored first in an anticipated Southern Athletic Association matchup against Rhodes men's lacrosse Sunday. The Lynx answered with three straight goals on their way to a 10-7 victory over the Vikings to improve to 10-3 overall and 4-0 in SAA play. The Vikings are now 4-7 on the year and 1-2 against conference opponents.
Berry tied the game to open the second quarter but again Rhodes scored three straight goals to take the lead. The Lynx led by two at halftime before
Matt Perez scored the eventual game-winner to open the second half. Perez then scored Rhodes' other third quarter goal before assisting the final Lynx goal tallied by
Will Cordes to give the Lynx a four-goal lead with 9:44 to go.
The Lynx defense held Berry to two goals in the second half while
Cameron Link made 14 saves in the game, including six in the third quarter. Perez totaled four points in the game while
Christian Cisneros recorded three points including two assists and four ground balls.
Rhodes only failed one clear (in the second quarter) on 24 attempts but Berry held the upper hand in face-offs (12-21).
The Lynx are back at home on Saturday, hosting a non-conference game against Southwestern (TX). The game will be played on the women's turf, Mason Field, at 1 p.m.
