Atlanta, Ga. - Rhodes College men's lacrosse defeated Oglethorpe University 18-2 Friday night. For all three conference wins, the Lynx have out-scored their opponents by at least 10 goals.
After a scoreless seven minutes, Oglethorpe netted the first goal of the game before the Lynx put in three straight. The Stormy Petrels pulled within one, scoring their final goal of the game with 2:18 left in the first quarter. Freshman
Christian Cisneros scored the winning goal with 18 seconds left in the same quarter to begin a 15-goal run to close out the game.
The Lynx defense limited Oglethorpe to just nine shots and caused 20 of the hosts 38 turnovers.
Will Perryman picked up seven ground balls while
Patrick Doud grabbed six as Rhodes held a 54-24 ground ball advantage.
On the offensive side, Rhodes took 76 shots as 13 different Lynx scored, led by
Tyler Milwit with a hat trick and Cisneros with two goals and two assists. The Lynx won 19-of-22 faceoffs and successfully made 15-of-22 clears.
Rhodes will turn to a rival Berry College on Sunday. The game in Rome, Ga. is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET.
