Baseball takes Second Game of Sewanee Doubleheader

Sewanee, Tenn. – Rhodes College baseball responded to a 15-4 loss in game one of Saturday's road doubleheader against the Sewanee Tigers with an 8-6 victory in game two. Sewanee is now 17-11 on the year and 4-7 in SAA play while Rhodes is now 14-13 overall and 6-5 against SAA opponents.
 
Game One
In their first time at the plate, the Tigers scored two runs on three hits and two walks. Trey Sledge earned all three outs on strikeouts. Sewanee tallied another run in the second before a two-run home run in the third game them a 5-0 lead.
 
Sewanee then crossed seven runs in the fourth after an error prolonged the inning to take a 12-0 lead. The Lynx avoided the shutout with four runs in the fifth after Peter York and Paul Giacomazzi were both hit by a pitch. Rhodes then tallied three walks, a sac fly and a single to score their four runs. Sewanee scored their final three runs on a double and Lynx throwing error in the bottom of the fifth.

Game Two
Tied 1-1, Rhodes scored seven runs in the third inning on seven hits and a sac bunt which included three doubles and a three-run home run by Ben Wilson. Sewanee scored again in the fourth and after two scoreless innings, tried to make a comeback victory. The Tigers plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh on a hit by pitch, two wild pitches, an error, and three hits including a solo homer to lead off the inning,. With the tying run at the plate, the Lynx walked away with the victory on a flyout to left field. 

Jacob Telli went 3-for-4 in the win with a triple while Jacob Dubs struck out seven over six innings to earn the win. Matt Dale came in with one out and an 8-5 lead to earn the save. 
 
First pitch for the rubber match is at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
