Ryan Palermo hit a three-run home run in the third inning to score the winning run as Rhodes baseball downed Belhaven University 12-2 Tuesday afternoon. The win elevates Rhodes to 13-12 on the season.
A leadoff double by
Jacob Telli in the fifth set up Rhodes' fifth run later in the inning.
Nick Bosma, who got the start for Rhodes, sat the Blazers down in order to finish the day with five strikeouts in five innings of work.
Jake Stacy walked with one out and scored on a
Paul Giacomazzi single to right field to give Rhodes a 6-2 lead in the sixth.
In the seventh, Rhodes tallied four runs on four hits including a pinch hit double for
John McNair. Freshman
Wood Kimbrough singled in two Lynx to finish scoring in the top of the ninth. He concluded the day 3-for-4 with four RBI, a walk and two runs scored. In the game, Telli, Kimbrough and McNair each doubled once while Telli hit a triple in the seventh.
Rhodes will be on the road at Sewanee this weekend with the Saturday doubleheader starting at noon, followed by the single game on Sunday, March 31, also at noon.
