Memphis - After BSC scored two of the first three goals of the game, Rhodes women's lacrosse got in a rhythm and scored six straight goals on their way to a 17-8 victory over Birmingham-Southern. The Lynx led 9-4 after the first half in their Southern Athletic Association opener Saturday afternoon.
Annika Hedlund served up two assists within 18 seconds to help the Lynx to a 3-2 advantage and the lead for good. After

Payton Bennett assisted
Baylee Barker for the start of three points in a row as Bennett then scored back-to-back goals to give the Lynx a 7-2 lead. Each team would score two goals each, including one from junior
Madison Rubino as the Lynx were serving a green card for three fouls in the midfield.
A 7-1 run to open the second half put Rhodes up 16-5 as
Price Campbell recorded her first collegiate goal with 19 minutes to play. BSC tallied three goals including two within 50 seconds to end the running clock. Barker tallied her final goal of the game and 14th of the season when
Kaylin Ryan fed her cut from up top.
During the game, starting goalkeeper
Lauren Lazure made six saves in 53 minutes in cage. Defender and captain,
Daly Colarossi, led the Lynx with five ground balls. A midfielder, Rubino was one caused turnover short of tying the school record. She recorded six against the Panthers and picked up four ground balls and three draw controls to go with her goal in the first half. Bennett led the team with five goals and one assist while Pike and Barker also recorded six points with four goals and two assists each.
Elizabeth Gaudio tallied her first goal of the season on her only shot of the contest.
Rhodes heads to Ohio for spring break. The current schedule includes a trip to Oberlin at 6 p.m. ET on March 5, Denison at 4:30 p.m. ET on March 7 and the Lynx will conclude the week with an 11:30 a.m. ET game against Capital in Columbus, Ohio. Rhodes returns to Memphis to host FDU-Florham at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 14.
