Memphis - It was a gorgeous day at Stauffer Field for some baseball on a Monday afternoon. After the morning rain left the area, the sun broke out for fans to enjoy an 8-3 victory over the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh (UWO). Rhodes is now 7-9 on the year as they take the series 2-1. UWO falls to 1-4.
Four unearned runs in the third inning was enough for Rhodes to take the win.
Jacob Telli reached base after an error by the Titan second baseman which would have been the second out. After
Will Heurtin was hit by a pitch, Telli scored when
Wood Kimbrough singled up the middle. A walk from
Nick Bosma loaded the bases but a strikeout totaled two outs for the Lynx.
Jake Stacy roped in two RBI on a hard hit deep in the hole to the second baseman before
Zach Liebenson singled the opposite way in the hole to the shortstop to score Bosma for the eventual winning run.
Leading 4-1, and after two scoreless innings, a leadoff double in the sixth helped the Titans score. Rhodes answered in the seventh. Telli led with a walk before he scored on a Heurtin double. Three singles in the eighth scored UWO's final run. Rhodes responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, after Liebenson earned a leadoff walk.
Brady John doubled in Liebenson before Heurton hit a two-run homer to left field.
Heurtin finished the game with three RBI, going two-of-four with two runs scored and a hit by pitch. Liebenson went two-of-three with a walk, run scored and RBI.
Jake Stacy recorded two RBI. Freshman CJ Carron picked up his first career win after pitching striking out four Titans and allowing three hits over five innings.
