Clarksville, Ark. - Rhodes College men's basketball trailed by two at halftime at the University of the Ozarks Friday night. Rhodes' eight-point second half advantage pushed the Lynx to victory in their 2019-20 season opener.
Rhodes outshot Ozarks in accuracy in the game, but the Lynx were hindered with 18 turnovers. Overall the Lynx shot above .500 and averaged .526 beyond the arc.

Jalen Essick on a three-pointer to give Rhodes a 70-69 lead with 5:48 to play. Ozarks sank two free throws to take a 73-72 advantage, but the Lynx closed out the game with nine straight points which included two treys and three free throws.
Bryce Berry led the Lynx with 23 points, sinking all five of his three-point attempts. He also totaled seven rebounds and two blocks.
Preston Giroux and Wiley both finished the game with 15 points while Essick added 14 as well, connecting on three of his four long-range attempts. Wiley recorded eight defensive boards in his first collegiate appearance.
Rhodes is back in action Sunday in Sherman, Texas at Austin College. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
