Jackson, Miss. - Rhodes College men's basketball shot a season-high .642 in the field overall and .536 from three-point range on their way to scoring a season-high 108 points in a road victory against Belhaven University (108-98).
Rhodes trailed by 11 in the first half but a 16-8 run put the Lynx down by three and back in the game with 8:44 to play. By halftime Rhodes held a 51-48 advantage. A Belhaven three-pointer gave the Blazers a two-point edge four minutes into the second half, but a 21-point run gave Rhodes an 85-66 lead with 10:37 to play. During those five minutes, the Lynx made eight baskets, sive of which were from beyond the arc. Of those five, four were made by
Jake Nestlehutt who sank three in a row!
The lead was enough to hold off the Blazers who then scored nine straight points before inching their way to a seven-point deficit with 6:14 to go.
Nestlehutt totaled 21 points in the game, going 7-of-9 from three-point range.
Preston Giroux went 9-of-11 in the field to total 19 points and nine rebounds.
Mitch Weatherford went 8-of-9, totaled 17 points and tallied six assists while
Bryce Berry also tallied 17 points.
Koki Wiley rounded out double-digit scoring with 16 points and
Mac James also recorded six assists.
Rhodes made a season-high 15 treys and are now 3-4 on the year. They will have a week off before making a day trip to No. 15-ranked Washington University in St. Louis on December 4.
