St. Louis, Mo. - Making a day trip, Rhodes College men's basketball suffered an 80-55 loss at No. 10- ranked Washington University in St. Louis Wednesday night.
The Lynx made the first two baskets of the game and led 10-2 until the Bears scored nine unanswered points. The game was tied 16-16 until WashU took the lead for good with 11 minutes left in the first half. Rhodes was only down by six points until a 14-0 run broke open the game for good. The Bears led 42-26 at halftime before a 39-28 WashU second half advantage sealed the win.
Rhodes was led by senior
Preston Giroux whose accuracy continues to aid the Lynx offense. Giroux went 5-of-6 in the field for 11 points and grabbed four rebounds. He holds a .618 shooting percentage this year.
Bryce Berry and
Jalen Essick both recorded nine points.
WashU held a 53-28 rebounding advantage over Rhodes, which included 15 offensive boards. The Lynx shot .358 in the field but went 4-of-17 from beyond the arc.
Rhodes will focus on finals before looking ahead to Belhaven at home on Friday Decemeber 13, followed by a matchup against McMurry on December 14, also at home.
