Louisville, Ky. - The Rhodes College cross country teams ran at the Greater Louisville Classic to run a preview of the NCAA Division III Nationals course.
Senior
Toler Freyaldenhoven highlighted the day. Each DIII team was allotted seven runners in the Silver race where Freyaldenhoven made his way up from 31st place at the 2.1k mark, then 9th place at the 3.9k mark before finishing the race in one of the fastest 8k's in school history. The Conway, Ark. native ended the race in second place out of 276 runners in a time of 24:22.7. It's believed that only former teammate
Spencer Fields has a faster time (24:14.7) from the 2017 South/Southeast Regional Championship.
Also scoring for the Lynx were
Jared Briant (92nd - 26:05.3),
Ben Hazelwood (97th - 26:08.6),
Benjamin Freeman (155th - 26:47.8) and
Mark Ellenberger (179th - 27:07.1).
The women's race was quite different as the lead car made a wrong turn, ultimately steering the lead runners down extended paths. By the end of the race it was evident that some runners ran 5500 meters, some 4500 meters, etc. Due to the issue at hand, meet officials decided to score the meet at the last split (3.9k), where it was known that all runners had raced the same route until that point.
Rhodes women's scorers in order of finish were:
Maryella Cohn,
Mary Nusloch,
Kate Freyaldenhoven,
Anna Littleton and
Lauren Roberts.

Rhodes will travel to Clinton, Miss. next Saturday, October 12 to race in Missississpi College's Watson Invitational.
