Memphis - After opening with a 25-23 first set victory over the Millsaps Majors, the Rhodes College volleyball team suffered three straight losses to fall in their first conference match of the weekend. The Lynx now turn to face Birmingham-Southern Sunday. With their victory over Hendrix Saturday, the Panthers have solidified themselves as hosts of the 2019 SAA Tournament. A win against the Lynx will earn them the outright regular season conference championship.
The Lynx took a dominating lead over Millsaps early (18-8) before the Majors tried to make a comeback. Rhodes found their lead cut when a service ace for the Majors tied the game 23-23. After a Lynx timeout, Millsaps committed an attack error before Lynx freshmen
Kathryn Chambers and
Gabrielle White teamed up for a block to win the set.Â
Millsaps scored the first five points of the second set. Three straight Lynx points cut the lead to two but the Majors went on an 8-3 run and lead by seven.
