Memphis - Rhodes College field hockey hosted the University of Concordia Wisconsin in their final home game of the 2019 season. Sunday's 3-0 win will not count towards Southern Athletic Association standings.
Rhodes got the scoring started in the sixth minute on their first penalty corner and first shot.
Hailey Mules played in the corner to
Elizabeth Vernon. Vernon tapped it over to junior defender
Meghan Harmon who sent the ball to her right for senior defender
Victoria Palazzetti to score the game-winner. Palazzetti's shot went right through the legs of the Falcon goalkeeper. Harmon later hit the back of the boards on a penalty shot in the 27th minute to give the Lynx a 2-0 halftime advantage.Â
Getting the start today was junior
Nadia Hyatt who recorded five saves in the first half before adding one in the third quarter. Palazzetti made a defensive save just two minutes into the second half to help the Lynx earn the shutout before freshman
Riley Marzola made a save in the fourth quarter.Â
Seven minutes after her defensive save, Harmon served Palazzetti once more in almost the same fashion to close scoring for the game. Palazzetti's shot went through the air to the keeper's right finding the back of the boards.Â
Rhodes outshot Concordia 28-14 with a 13-5 corner advantage. CUW's goalkeeper made 14 saves in the game.Â
The Lynx close out their regular season on the road at No. 16 Centre Saturday and Transylvania on Sunday.
