Mount Berry, Ga. - Rhodes College volleyball suffered a shutout loss to No. 10-ranked Berry College Saturday. The Lynx fell 25-17, 25-14 before a close 27-25 third set. Rhodes held Berry to under a .200 hitting percentgae in each of the last two sets.
The first set was tied at four points each before a four-point run from Berry opened the game. Rhodes was trailing 22-13 before they went on a 4-1 run to try and make a comeback. In the second set, Rhodes held a 12-11 advantage, but another Berry run with six straight points put the game away. In the third set the Vikings led 18-12 but Rhodes bounced back. An 8-2 run tied the game 20-20 and a 3-1 run put Rhodes on top 23-21. A kill from
Kathryn Chambers put Rhodes one point away from the win but a Berry kill and two Lynx attack errors put the Vikings back within reach. Berry took advantage and a 2-1 run sealed the match.
Rhodes was led offensively by senior
Emily Korba (seven kills) and
Heather Antrim (.444 hitting percentage).
Annie Burke added 10 assists and
Marissa Hall totaled 12 digs.Â
Rhodes will next head to Oglethorpe on Sunday at 12 p.m. ET.
