Memphis - Rhodes College field hockey defeated conference foe, the University of Concordia Wisconsin, 2-0 Saturday in their final home stand. Celebrating Senior Day with gorgeous weather, the Lynx scored once in the first quarter and once in the fourth quarter to improve to 6-4 on the year.
Prior to the game Rhodes recognized all seven seniors:
Delaney Graf,
Nina Migneco,
Hailey Mules,
Victoria Palazzetti,
Daryl Perry,
Lydia Slyter, and
Maria Varat.
Rhodes outshot the Falcons 20-4 in the victory with a 9-2 penalty corner advantage. The Lynx rattled a shot off just 24 seconds into the game before they connected on the game-winner as the ninth minute began. Sophomore
Hannah Luckes, at the top of the circle, lifted the ball over some Falcon sticks where it landed in front of senior
Hailey Mules. Mules was able to gather control of the ball over a Falcon defender and the goalkeeper before she placed it into the far back right corner.
The duo connected once again when Luckes sent the ball in from farther out where Mules chased it down, beat the goalie to the ball and shot between the goalie and the goal line to hit the back of the boards in the 59th minute.
Migneco totaled three saves on the day.
Rhodes will re-match the Falcons Sunday in their final home game of the season at 11 a.m.
