Memphis – Rhodes College women's soccer dominated the first half en route to a 6-1 victory over Oglethorpe University Friday afternoon.
Rhodes connected on their first shot of the game when senior
Katelyn Curtis powered the ball from 20 yards through the hands of the Stormy Petrel keeper in the sixth minute. Freshman
Maddy Yde closed the first half with her first collegiate goal right in front of the goal on an assist from
Izzy Gillespie. Rhodes went on to hold a 4-0 first half lead.
The Lynx scored two goals within one minute and 13 seconds in the 53
rd minute to lead 6-0. The Stormy Petrels were able to avoid the shutout in the 89
th minute.
Rhodes totaled possession for 64% of the game and completed 20 shots to Oglethorpe's four.
Sarah DiLuzio scored twice while defender
Taylor Ryan completed a hat trick of assists including two in the first half.
Anya Ranaraja and
Alli Cundiff also scored.
The Lynx will look ahead to their second-to-last regular season game on Sunday, hosting Berry College at noon.
